Susan Byrd

A clinical social worker for more than two decades, Susan facilitates Parents Place workshops in San Francisco and Marin for parents of toddlers and preschool-age children. Her areas of expertise include issues for new parents and young children, such as sleep, toilet learning, limit-setting, tantrums, positive discipline, parent-child separation, and adjustment to school and family changes. Susan has also provided counseling and therapy services to Parents Place families on concerns that range from parent-child communication and intergenerational family dynamics to school performance and childhood depression and anxiety. A graduate of Wheaton College, in Norton, Mass., where she received her bachelor’s degree in psychology, Susan received her MSW from Boston University and a certification from the Kantor Family Therapy Institute in Cambridge, Mass.
